Our Story

We're better together- together we're better!

If you visit our center, you might hear this phrase from our staff or children. It is the heart of what we believe and directs how work and play together.

The Children's Place was created in 1992 by two educators who discovered there was not a licensed infant-preschool program in the Linn-Benton area. From there they devoted many years growing The Children's Place into the best licensed child care center in Albany.

Over the last 27 years, The Children's Place has served hundreds of working families, nurturing children from infancy through kindergarten preparation. Our philosophy of learning is to recognize and encourage each child at the level of development that they are at. We delight in each child’s curiosity and imagination. Time is given for self growth and activities are planned for specific developmental areas. Children are given opportunity to share their individuality and grow compassion and appreciation for others.

Our Mission

As an extension of United Presbyterian Church of Albany, The Children's Place prioritizes healthy child development and a love for learning through age- appropriate play. For over three decades, we have served hundreds of families, taking care of children from infancy to kindergarten preparation.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy of learning is to recognize and encourage each child at the level they are at, delighting in each child's curiosity and imagination. Time is given for self growth and activities are planned for specific developmental areas. Children are given the opportunity to share their individuality and grow compassion and appreciation for others. We focus on growth in socialization along with activities and classrooms that promote development in language, cognition and motor skills.
